The Honda Super Cub has been in production since 1958, and by 2017, over 100 million had been produced—which makes it the most popular motor vehicle of any kind in history.
Over the years, engine capacity has ranged from 49 to 124 cc. So a Cub is not going to tear your arms out of their sockets, but what the Cub lacks in performance, it makes up for in style.
The Cub uses a pressed steel monocoque chassis, with the engine below the central spine. So it’s technically a ‘step through’ or ‘underbone’ motorcycle, although most people will call it a moped.
The chassis is difficult to modify, but that hasn’t stopped custom builders from tweaking the Super Cub in all directions. Some builds are tasteful and low-key, others are borderline insane. We’ve picked the best right here.
